🗣️ Be Seen, Heard, and Valued

Visibility with purpose is not about building your ego.  It's more about creating the impact you wish to have when you step into a room, whether at home or work.  Here are 10 ways to be seen, heard and valued for the right reasons.  Some have been inspired by Melody Wilding's work on Managing Up.

As usual, I have added my GEMS 💎 of advice and some Journaling reflection prompts for the first time.

1. Let Your Work Speak Through You

Great work can be powerful, but it rarely speaks for itself. Be your advocate with intention.

💎 GEM: When you speak confidently about your work, you permit others to do the same. If you haven't been to a #IAmRemarkable workshop, now is the time to do so.  Learn this skill and confidently voice your achievements. Reach out to see if your team or organisation may benefit.

📝 Reflection Prompt: Where in your work are you waiting to be noticed, rather than speaking up with clarity and pride?

2. Visibility Isn’t Vanity

Being seen isn’t self-promotion—it’s leadership. The right people need to know the value you bring.

💎 GEM: True visibility isn’t about showing off—it’s about showing up where it matters most, with confidence and gravitas.

📝 Reflection Prompt: What belief or fear keeps you from being more visible in your work or mission?

3. Shine a Light Where It Matters Most

Cast a spotlight on your work.  Does it align with team goals, drive results, and connect you with key players?

💎 GEM: Visibility is most potent when it’s aligned with impact.

📝 Reflection Prompt: Do you highlight work that adds strategic value, or what keeps you busy?

4. Lead with Legacy, Not Just Lists

Don’t just share what you’ve done. Share what you stand for and what you want to be known for.

💎 GEM: Focusing on legacy helps you shift from doing to becoming. This is where visualisation and the art of manifesting your ideal future come in.

📝 Reflection Prompt: What do you want to be known for in the next year? Are your conversations reflecting that, or do they need to change?

5. Own Your Narrative

Imagine that a story will be told about your work. Make sure it’s the version you want to be shared — and one worth remembering.

💎 GEM: Owning your story is one of the most powerful forms of leadership you can practice. Ensure it's your story and showcases all you have to offer.

📝 Reflection Prompt: If someone introduced your work today, would they capture the essence of what truly matters to you?

6. Keep a pocket update in your mind

Be prepared to share a quick, clear update: a project you’re working on, one standout detail, and its impact.

💎 GEM: Being ready doesn’t just make you visible—it makes you memorable. It attracts stakeholders when you know what you are making, providing or selling.

📝 Reflection Prompt: What’s your go-to update right now? Could you share it confidently with a leader today?

7. Say Yes to Strategic Moments

The informal moments matter. Accept the right invites, follow up meaningfully, and nurture relationships that matter.

💎 GEM: Opportunities often arrive disguised as casual conversations. Be open to these moments if for the proper purpose.

📝 Reflection Prompt: Which conversation, coffee, or catch-up have you postponed that could open new doors?

8. Ask Bold Questions, Offer Thoughtful Ideas

Curiosity and contribution go hand in hand. Be the voice that sparks insight and offers solutions, not just opinions.

💎 GEM: You don’t need a title to lead. A good question can shift the whole room.

📝 Reflection Prompt: Are you holding back an idea that could shift a project, team dynamic, or opportunity forward?

9. Celebrate Others Loudly and Authentically

Lifting others builds trust and shows leadership. When you celebrate wins, you also shape culture.

💎 GEM: Spotlighting others amplifies your leadership voice — it shows you see the bigger picture and value all.  The #IAmRemarkable workshop is a testament to this concept.

📝 Reflection Prompt: When did you publicly celebrate someone else’s work last? Could you do that this week?

10. Be Consistent in How You Show Up

Consistency builds credibility. Let your presence reflect clarity, confidence, and care from meetings to messages.

💎 GEM: Consistency can be magnetic. People trust what they can rely on. Have you ever done something repeatedly and built up trust in your audience?

📝 Reflection Prompt: What three words describe how you want to be experienced, and are you living them daily?

Are you ready to raise your visibility and add a fit and right purpose for you?  Only you can and have the power to do this.  Spend some time reflecting on the gems and use the journaling prompts as ideas for further inspiration. What stops you from taking a notebook and paper and creating a new level of visibility for yourself? Do this because your voice, value, and vision deserve to be seen.
